IndusInd Bank felicitates Indian women’s blind cricket team for historic T20 World Cup win
The event celebrated the team’s landmark achievement and was attended by IndusInd Bank MD-CEO Rajiv Anand, along with senior bank officials and representatives of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India, in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Mumbai, December 18: IndusInd Bank on Wednesday hosted a felicitation ceremony to honour the Indian women’s blind cricket team following their historic victory at the inaugural Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind.
The event celebrated the team’s landmark achievement and was attended by IndusInd Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Anand, along with senior bank officials and representatives of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India. As a mark of recognition, the bank presented the team with a cash reward for their contribution to inclusive sports and their world cup triumph.
IndusInd Bank has been supporting the Indian blind cricket ecosystem under its corporate social responsibility initiative, IndusInd Bank Cricket for Blind, in partnership with the Cricket Association for the Blind in India, an initiative of the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. The programme supports more than 700 blind cricketers, both men and women, across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Anand said the team’s world cup victory represents a defining moment for inclusive sports in India. He said the bank remains committed to building an enabling ecosystem that empowers individuals with visual impairment to excel with confidence through sustained institutional support.
Mahantesh Kivadasannavar, chairman of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India and founder managing trustee of the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, said the decade-long partnership with IndusInd Bank has played a transformative role in the growth of blind cricket in India. He said consistent support has helped raise public awareness, secure recognition for players and open pathways to government jobs and financial awards.
Under its CSR programme, IndusInd Bank provides comprehensive support to blind cricketers, including training, nutritional guidance, counselling, equipment, financial assistance and accommodation during tournaments. The initiative also focuses on awareness-building to promote sports participation among the visually impaired at district and state levels.
The bank in a statement said the success of the Indian women’s blind cricket team at the global stage reflects the impact of sustained investment in inclusive sporting infrastructure and partnerships that prioritise accessibility, opportunity and excellence.
