New Delhi: All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), through its incubation centre iCAINE, has marked a significant achievement at the MSME Idea Hackathon 5.0 with the selection of an innovative startup concept, reinforcing its role as a leading innovation hub in the Ayurveda sector.

The institute, functioning as a Host Institute under the Ministry of Ayush, has been actively supporting innovation aligned with national priorities, particularly in traditional medicine and healthcare technologies.

The selected idea, titled “MITE OUT: A Dual-Action Non-Invasive Device for Safe Extraction of Myiasis Larvae in Livestock,” developed by Anneasa Manna and team, has been chosen under AIIA for incubation and further development.

The MSME Idea Hackathon 5.0, an initiative of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, is a national platform designed to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and problem-solving among students, innovators and early-stage startups. Selected ideas receive financial support of up to ₹15 lakh along with structured mentorship and incubation assistance.

AIIA has been among the designated Host Institutes since the programme’s inception, playing a key role in nurturing innovations within the Ayurveda ecosystem through its incubation centre iCAINE. The centre provides end-to-end support including technical mentorship, validation, infrastructure and strategic guidance.

PK Prajapati, Director of AIIA, said the achievement reflects the institute’s commitment to integrating traditional knowledge systems with modern innovation frameworks.

“This recognition highlights our efforts to build a robust platform that transforms novel ideas into scalable solutions contributing to national development and global healthcare advancement,” he said.

Shivakumar Harthi, in-charge of AIIA-iCAINE, said the selection of the ‘MITE OUT’ concept underscores the strength of the incubation ecosystem.

“Our focus is to support ideas that create meaningful impact. Through mentorship, infrastructure and strategic direction, we aim to help innovators convert concepts into successful enterprises,” he said.

The achievement underscores AIIA’s expanding role in strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem, particularly in the intersection of traditional medicine and modern technology, while contributing to economic growth and employment generation.
