Matrix Geo Wins ₹5.14 Crore MP Govt Mandate for Narmada Digital Twin Survey
The project will deploy a combination of drones, aircraft, helicopters, and advanced LiDAR systems to capture high-resolution geospatial data across complex terrain, including forests, gorges, and plains.
Drone, LiDAR and aerial mapping to power 2,400 sq km geospatial model for pilgrimage infrastructure and planning

New Delhi Matrix Geo Solutions Limited has secured a ₹5.14 crore contract from Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Limited to undertake a large-scale geospatial survey of the Narmada river corridor, deploying drone mapping, LiDAR, and aerial data acquisition technologies.
The six-month project will cover approximately 2,400 sq km along the river corridor, forming the foundation for a comprehensive Digital Twin and supporting infrastructure planning for the Narmada Parikrama pilgrimage route.
Drone-Led Mapping for Digital Twin Creation
The project will deploy a combination of drones, aircraft, helicopters, and advanced LiDAR systems to capture high-resolution geospatial data across complex terrain, including forests, gorges, and plains.
The data will enable:
- High-precision mapping and terrain modelling
- Hydrological analysis for river systems
- Preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs)
- Creation of a Digital Twin for real-time planning and monitoring
The Digital Twin will serve as a unified data layer for multiple government departments, including forest and environment, water resources, tourism, and disaster management.
Tech Meets Spiritual Infrastructure
The Narmada Parikrama—one of India’s most significant spiritual journeys—attracts thousands of devotees annually. The initiative aims to modernise pilgrimage infrastructure while preserving ecological balance and cultural integrity.
The geospatial model will support:
- Route optimisation and accessibility improvements
- Identification of encroachments and ecological sensitivities
- Planning of tourism and pilgrim facilities
- Data-driven governance across departments
Strategic Significance
The project reflects a growing trend of integrating geospatial intelligence with public infrastructure and cultural asset management, aligning with India’s broader digital governance push.
Commenting on the development, Amit Sharma, Whole Time Director, Matrix Geo Solutions, said, “This project represents a convergence of spirituality, sustainability, and technology. Our goal is to build a scalable and intelligent geospatial foundation for both pilgrimage and policy.”
Expanding Geospatial Ecosystem
Matrix Geo Solutions, which specialises in Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS), GIS, and remote sensing, continues to expand its footprint in large-scale infrastructure and environmental projects, leveraging data-driven technologies for decision-making and planning.
