Exhibition at Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya highlights stamps on Presidents, Prime Ministers, and freedom fighters; MoU signed to scale nationwide collaborations

New Delhi: Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Tuesday inaugurated a philatelic exhibition celebrating India’s cultural and democratic legacy at Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, as the Department of Posts stepped up efforts to expand public engagement with the country’s postal heritage.
Titled “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat: Celebrating India’s Unity & Democracy through Postage Stamps,” the exhibition is being organised from April 14 to 17 in collaboration with the museum. It showcases a curated collection of stamps reflecting India’s historical journey, cultural diversity, and institutional legacy, with thematic sections on Presidents, Prime Ministers, and freedom fighters.
During his visit, Scindia interacted with philatelists, collectors, and designers, acknowledging their role in preserving India’s postal history. He described the initiative as a significant step in connecting citizens—especially younger generations—with the nation’s heritage through the medium of stamps.
Highlighting the broader vision, Scindia said the Department of Posts will continue to play a key role in nation-building, evolving from its historical roots into a modern institution aligned with India’s journey from independence to Amrit Kaal and beyond. He noted that collaborations with cultural institutions would be expanded to take such exhibitions across the country.
Marking the occasion, three sets of picture postcards were released to commemorate the fourth foundation day of the Sangrahalaya, the birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar, and the Constitution of India.
In a move to institutionalise collaboration, the Department of Posts signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sangrahalaya to jointly promote India’s cultural and postal heritage through exhibitions, outreach programmes, and co-branded philatelic products. The partnership will also explore the establishment of a dedicated India Post counter at the museum.
The initiative reflects a broader strategy to reposition postal assets—particularly stamps—as tools of cultural storytelling and public engagement, while strengthening linkages between government institutions and heritage platforms.
Scindia also visited the museum’s gallery on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which presents key milestones and initiatives from his public life.
