New Delhi: Mad Monkey AI has announced early access to its upcoming social media platform through a student-focused waitlist, positioning campus communities at the core of product development and engagement.

The platform’s initial rollout will be limited to students, with a co-creation model that allows early users to directly influence product design and community structure. The move signals a shift from passive content consumption toward collaborative, outcome-driven social interaction.

Campus Founders to Drive Platform Evolution

At the centre of the rollout is the Founding Campus Founders programme, under which selected student leaders across colleges will act as early builders of the platform.

These participants will:

  • Lead “Sparks” — collaborative, project-based interactions within the platform
  • Build and manage campus communities
  • Contribute inputs that directly shape product features and user experience

Lakshman Devarajan, Founder and CEO, said the initiative reflects changing user expectations. “Students want more than passive engagement. They want to contribute and be recognised for what they build. The Campus Founders are already shaping product decisions, and this will continue as we scale.”

Early Traction Across Key Cities

Mad Monkey AI has launched a campus outreach campaign across five major cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai – onboarding 25 student influencers to drive awareness and adoption.

The campaign has generated over 550 waitlist sign-ups so far, indicating early traction among college communities.

The platform’s core interaction model revolves around “Sparks,” enabling users to collaborate on ideas, projects, and solutions, with early examples to be showcased ahead of full launch.

Recognition-Led Engagement Model

A key differentiator is the platform’s recognition framework, where contributors whose ideas are implemented will receive visible attribution within the product and across official channels.

The company is also in discussions with multiple academic institutions for early partnerships under the Campus Founders programme, aiming to scale the model across campuses.

Phased Rollout and Ecosystem Build

Following the waitlist phase, Mad Monkey AI plans a phased rollout beginning with early contributors before expanding to a wider user base.

The startup has also been selected for the Idea Factory programme by Startup Virginia, adding external validation to its early-stage traction.

Positioned as a “responsible social media platform,” Mad Monkey AI aims to redefine digital engagement by enabling purposeful collaboration and real-world outcomes, particularly within student ecosystems.
