Mumbai, September 30: Vi Business, the enterprise arm of Vodafone Idea, on Monday announced the launch of its IoT Innovation Lab in Mumbai, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT). The facility is positioned as a hub for Internet of Things (IoT)-driven innovations, enabling enterprises, start-ups, and device makers to design, test, and scale future-ready solutions, according to a company statement.

The Lab will showcase use cases in connected vehicles, smart manufacturing, energy optimization through smart grids, and enterprise automation. It will also provide hands-on demonstrations, combining Vi Business’s connectivity infrastructure with AWS’s cloud and AI expertise and C-DOT’s standards-driven framework, it said.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to transform India’s IoT landscape and empower enterprises to innovate faster, scale securely, and deliver measurable outcomes,” said Arvind Nevatia, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vodafone Idea.

AWS executives highlighted that the partnership will accelerate next-generation IoT deployments in India. “Enterprises are rapidly adopting cloud, AI, and IoT to transform operations. This collaboration will help businesses bring these solutions to market faster,” said VG Sundar Ram, Head of Business Development, AWS India and South Asia.

C-DOT CEO Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay stressed the importance of standards-based adoption. “By driving oneM2M standards as the national framework, we ensure interoperability, data security, and privacy in India’s IoT ecosystem,” he said.

The launch comes at a time when India’s IoT market is projected to grow from $2.89 billion in 2024 to $10.28 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 23.2%. With over 1.59 lakh DPIIT-recognized start-ups in the country, many engaged in IoT and AI, the Lab is expected to serve as a launchpad for enterprise innovation and digital transformation.

Vi Business, backed by Vodafone Idea’s spectrum and 5G expansion plans, is betting big on emerging technologies to strengthen its enterprise portfolio and contribute to India’s digital economy.
