India Post Payments Bank, EPFO Partner to Offer Free Doorstep Digital Life Certificate Services for Pensioners
The MoU was exchanged between R. Viswesvaran, Managing Director & CEO of IPPB, and Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC), EPFO, during the 73rd Foundation Day of EPFO in New Delhi on Monday.
New Delhi, November 3: The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), a wholly-owned entity of the Government of India under the Department of Posts, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to provide doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services for pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 (EPS’95).
The MoU was exchanged between R. Viswesvaran, Managing Director & CEO of IPPB, and Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC), EPFO, during the 73rd Foundation Day of EPFO in New Delhi on November 1. The event was graced by Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, as the Chief Guest, and attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Labour & Employment, EPFO, and IPPB.
Under the partnership, IPPB will utilize its extensive network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh+ postal service providers (Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks) equipped with digital devices to assist pensioners in submitting their Digital Life Certificates through Face Authentication or Fingerprint Biometric Authentication — all from the comfort of their homes. The service will be free of cost, with EPFO bearing the entire expense.
“This partnership with EPFO reinforces IPPB’s mission to bring essential financial and citizen services to every doorstep in India,” said R. Viswesvaran, MD & CEO, IPPB. “With our technology-enabled postal network, EPFO pensioners, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, can now complete their life certificate submission seamlessly, with dignity and convenience.”
The initiative aligns with the Government’s Digital India and Ease of Living vision, ensuring that senior citizens and pensioners—particularly those in remote areas—can access government services inclusively and securely.
IPPB first introduced its Doorstep Digital Life Certificate service in 2020, using Aadhaar-enabled authentication to generate Jeevan Pramaan certificates, drastically reducing processing time. Pensioners can contact their Postman or Gramin Dak Sevak, or visit the nearest Post Office to complete the process, after which they receive confirmation via SMS and can view their certificate online at jeevanpramaan.gov.in.
The collaboration is expected to benefit millions of pensioners across India, bridging the last-mile service gap through technology-driven financial inclusion and reaffirming IPPB’s role as a key enabler of citizen-centric digital governance.
