Hyderabad/Mumbai: Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Thursday said Telangana plans to double the size of Hyderabad’s infrastructure over the next decade as part of an aggressive strategy to support enterprise growth and position the city as a global innovation and GCC powerhouse.

Speaking at the NASSCOM GCC Summit 2026 in Mumbai during a keynote session titled “Beyond Policy: Designed to Win the Global GCC Race,” the minister said Global Capability Centres (GCCs) have evolved beyond outsourcing and cost centres into strategic enterprise innovation hubs.

Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad today hosts one of the world’s most diversified GCC ecosystems with strong presence across BFSI, life sciences, semiconductors, defence, FMCG and space technology sectors.

He noted that global technology giants including Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta and NVIDIA have established major operations in Hyderabad, alongside seven of the world’s top ten semiconductor companies. The city also hosts major financial and capital market entities including Deutsche Börse, London Stock Exchange Group, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America.

“Hyderabad gives you something no other city can: the ability to cross-pollinate talent,” the minister said, adding that GCCs in the city benefit from access to expertise spanning AI, digital platforms, finance and defence technologies.

Addressing concerns around sustainability, urban congestion and infrastructure stress, Sridhar Babu unveiled Telangana’s long-term urban expansion strategy aimed at supporting the state’s vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2035.

The strategy includes the development of a Net-Zero urban ecosystem anchored by Bharat Future City and a dedicated AI City, along with major investments in a 340-km Regional Ring Road, metro expansion, airport upgrades, AIKAM innovation hub and Young India Skill University.

“We are running at the speed of double-digit industrial growth,” the minister said, recalling how earlier investments in Hyderabad’s international airport and Outer Ring Road had initially faced criticism but later became critical growth enablers.

The NASSCOM GCC Summit 2026 brought together global CEOs, GCC leaders, policymakers, investors and technology firms to discuss AI-led enterprises, digital transformation, engineering excellence and India’s expanding role in the global capability economy.
