Octave opens Hyderabad technology centre with plans to scale workforce to 2000 engineers

HYDERABAD: Octave Intelligence plc on Wednesday inaugurated its Technology and Innovation Centre in Hyderabad, with plans to scale the facility to 2,000 engineers as the company expands its global technology and innovation operations from the city.

The centre will support Octave’s work across software engineering, artificial intelligence, data, cloud and product development. The company has also established an Experience Centre at its Hyderabad office to showcase its connected and contextual intelligence solutions and technology capabilities.

The facility was inaugurated by Telangana Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce and Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu and Octave CEO Mattias Stenberg, along with Octave India Vice President, Product and Services, Sekhar Konidena and other senior leaders. Telangana IT Advisor Sai Krishna was also present. The facility, spread across 2 lakh sq. ft. in HITEC City, includes the Experience Centre and office spaces across multiple floors.

Octave said the Hyderabad centre will serve as a key global technology and innovation hub, with teams contributing to technologies and solutions delivered to customers worldwide. Its work will particularly support industries where complex assets and infrastructure require real-time intelligence and data-driven decision-making.

The company serves more than 60% of the Global Fortune 500 and approximately 4,500 customers across 180 countries, according to the release. Its decision to establish a large engineering base in Hyderabad places it alongside global engineering and industrial technology companies that have built significant technology capabilities in the city.

The centre is expected to add to Hyderabad’s growing Global Capability Centre ecosystem. The release said the city absorbed more than 46% of all new capability centres established in India in the past year, with companies including Charles Schwab, The Hartford, Nationwide, L’Oréal, Vanguard, T-Mobile and Southwest Airlines establishing operations in the city.

Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad was increasingly becoming a first choice for global companies establishing their first GCCs and entering India. He said the state had welcomed 75 new GCCs in the previous year and was targeting another 100 by the following year. He also highlighted the increasing diversity of capabilities being developed in the city, spanning sectors such as sports technology, media, hospitality, travel, capital markets, trading, utilities and energy.

Octave CEO Mattias Stenberg said Hyderabad offered a combination of engineering talent, a technology ecosystem and a culture of innovation, describing the new centre as an investment in the company’s people and future capabilities.

The Hyderabad team will work across software engineering, AI, data, cloud and product development, with its products and platforms supporting customers globally. Octave’s software portfolio includes geospatial intelligence, engineering information management, enterprise asset management, physical security and quality management.

The company said the Experience Centre will allow customers, partners and stakeholders to interact with its products, innovations and AI-driven solutions through demonstrations and real-world use cases.

Sridhar Babu also emphasised Hyderabad’s long-term talent advantage, saying the city offers the depth, specialised expertise and stable ecosystem required by global companies to build and sustain complex engineering capabilities.

The establishment of Octave’s Technology and Innovation Centre adds another global engineering operation to Hyderabad’s expanding technology ecosystem, with the planned scale-up to 2,000 engineers positioning the facility as a significant addition to the city’s high-value technology talent base.
