NEW DELHI: The Union government received ₹13,67,709 crore and incurred expenditure of ₹20,77,958 crore during April-August of FY2026-27, reaching 37.5% and 38.9% of their respective full-year Budget Estimates.

According to the monthly accounts released on September 30, receipts comprised ₹8,37,921 crore in tax revenue net to the Centre, ₹4,54,549 crore in non-tax revenue and ₹75,239 crore in non-debt capital receipts.

The Centre transferred ₹5,90,391 crore to state governments as their share of taxes during the five-month period. This was ₹60,243 crore lower than in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Revenue expenditure stood at ₹15,68,009 crore, while capital expenditure amounted to ₹5,09,949 crore.

Within revenue expenditure, interest payments accounted for ₹5,14,810 crore and major subsidies for ₹1,87,037 crore.
