ECI Activates 1950 Helpline and ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ for Faster Voter Grievance Redressal
The 1950 National Contact Centre, functioning as the central helpline for all states and Union Territories, operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. via toll-free number 1800-11-1950.
New Delhi, October 30: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has operationalized the National Voter Helpline and ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ facilities to help citizens resolve all election-related queries and grievances in a timely and transparent manner.
The 1950 National Contact Centre, functioning as the central helpline for all states and Union Territories, operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. via toll-free number 1800-11-1950. The calls are handled by trained executives who assist citizens with information on electoral services, registration, and related procedures.
Each state and Union Territory has also been instructed to set up a State Contact Centre (SCC) and District Contact Centre (DCC) to ensure localized and language-specific assistance. These centres operate during office hours on all working days throughout the year.
All complaints and queries are logged and tracked through the National Grievance Service Portal (NGSP 2.0) to ensure accountability and prompt action.
In a further digital push, the Commission has introduced the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ feature on the ECINET platform, allowing voters to directly contact their respective Booth Level Officers for assistance. The facility is also available through the ECINET App, which enables citizens to connect with local election officials.
The ECI has directed Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Election Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to regularly monitor grievances and ensure that all queries are resolved within 48 hours.
In addition to these services, voters can continue to send emails to complaints@eci.gov.in for any election-related issues.
Encouraging wider use of the new facilities, the ECI said the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ and 1950 Helpline provide citizens with accessible, efficient, and transparent mechanisms for feedback, suggestions, and complaint resolution — reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to voter convenience and responsiveness.
