Curapod M launched in India with AI-enabled photobiomodulation for menstrual pain
Hyderabad-based Litemed has launched Curapod M, a drug-free wearable therapy combining photobiomodulation and adaptive personalisation to address menstrual pain and cramps.
Curapod M also incorporates an adaptive engine that personalises therapy. Its companion app learns from a user's menstrual cycle, pain patterns and therapy history and is designed to anticipate the likely intensity of an upcoming cycle, according to the company.
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad-based health-tech company Litemed India on Wednesday launched Curapod M, a device designed to provide drug-free therapy for menstrual pain and cramps by combining medical-grade photobiomodulation (PBM), adaptive personalisation and digital intelligence.
The company said Curapod M is fully engineered and manufactured in India. The device is licensed by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) and registered with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
At the core of Curapod M is a photobiomodulation platform using specific red and near-infrared wavelengths. According to the company, the technology is designed to work on biological processes associated with menstrual pain, including prostaglandin-linked pathways involved in cramping.
80% reported zero pain in clinical evaluation
Litemed said a clinical evaluation found that 80% of women experienced zero pain after using Curapod M.
The therapy is drug-free and hormone-free and is designed for application around the lower abdomen. The company said the device is intended to integrate into users’ daily routines rather than require them to interrupt their activities because of menstrual pain.

Launching product in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Surya Prakash, Founder and Chief Technology Officer, CURAPOD, said the technology was developed to address the biological mechanisms associated with menstrual pain rather than simply respond to the sensation of pain.
Menstrual pain and its wider impact
The company cited a 2025 meta-analysis of 31 studies across India, which estimated that 53% of adolescent girls aged 10–19 experience menstrual pain. The individual studies reviewed reported prevalence ranging from 26.3% to 84.2%, depending on the population and methodology.
The company also cited research indicating that girls experiencing menstrual pain were 4.9 times more likely to miss college, while experiencing a 3.2 times higher likelihood of reduced concentration and 2.4 times higher likelihood of poor work satisfaction. A 2023 review cited by the company reported nearly 48% sickness absenteeism.
India rollout planned
Curapod M is expected to be rolled out across India through the company’s website, Amazon and Flipkart, with an indicative launch price of around ₹11,999. The company said availability will extend to metropolitan as well as Tier 2 markets.
The launch builds on CURAPOD’s existing pain-technology platform, which the company said is already being used across more than 50,000 Indian households, with over one million therapy sessions completed.
Sri Velliyur, Co-Founder and CEO, CURAPOD, said the company aims to change how menstrual pain is approached through science and technology.
According to the company, CURAPOD was founded in 2022 by Sri Velliyur and Surya Maguluri. Its broader platform uses medical-grade photobiomodulation and a proprietary adaptive engine to provide personalised, drug-free therapy for more than 30 musculoskeletal conditions.
