Oyster Renewable partners with MS Agarwal Foundries for 48 MWp hybrid renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: Oyster Renewable has partnered with MS Agarwal Foundries to develop a 48 MWp solar-wind hybrid renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh, expanding the renewable energy company’s presence in the state.

The project is designed to provide MS Agarwal Foundries with a more reliable renewable power supply by combining solar and wind generation. Oyster Renewable said the hybrid configuration is intended to create a more balanced renewable energy profile for industrial consumption.

Once operational, the facility is estimated to generate more than 12.2 crore units of renewable electricity annually and help avoid approximately 86,620 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The project will be Oyster Renewable’s third renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh.

Hybrid model targets industrial power demand

The partnership comes as Andhra Pradesh continues to expand its renewable energy ecosystem. According to the company, the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 supports solar, wind and hybrid renewable energy projects, including the development of Renewable Energy Zones.

The policy provides eligible wind-solar hybrid projects with a 50% exemption on transmission and wheeling charges for five years from commercial operation, according to the release. The state is targeting 72.60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Ateesh Samant, COO, Oyster Renewable, said hybrid projects can help address the power requirements of energy-intensive industries by combining the complementary generation patterns of solar and wind.

The partnership with MS Agarwal Foundries, he said, brings the hybrid model to an energy-intensive industrial sector and forms part of Oyster Renewable’s longer-term focus on supporting industrial decarbonisation.

Third project in Andhra Pradesh

The latest project adds to Oyster Renewable’s hybrid renewable energy portfolio in Andhra Pradesh and its focus on working with commercial and industrial consumers.

The company said its projects are designed around hybrid solar and wind systems, with the objective of combining the two sources to support a more consistent renewable power supply while reducing carbon emissions.
