The customised platform combines multilingual AI with human oversight, focusing on consistent terminology, contextual accuracy and secure access to official information across Indian languages.

NEW DELHI: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) and the Digital India BHASHINI Division have launched “CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad”, an AI-powered translation solution for official documents and audit-related reports.
The platform was unveiled at the CAG office in New Delhi on Wednesday during the closing ceremony of the 74th Hindi Diwas and Hindi Pakhwada 2026.
Developed by BHASHINI for the CAG’s specialised requirements, the solution focuses on consistent terminology, contextual translation and output quality, according to a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology release. It incorporates security, controlled access and data sovereignty requirements while retaining human oversight within existing institutional translation processes.
CAG K. Sanjay Murthy emphasised the importance of making audit findings and reports available to citizens in languages they understand. He said technology could help extend access to audit information in local and regional languages while strengthening the use of Indian languages in official work.
Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, said the platform supports 36 Indian text languages, 23 Indian voice languages and 35 international languages. He highlighted applications including multilingual agricultural advice, voice-enabled grievance services and telephone-based conversational interfaces.
Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General Nilotpal Goswami said integrating language technology into institutional processes could make communication more accessible, timely and effective.
The partnership also introduced BHASHINI-enabled language activities and games during Hindi Pakhwada, held from September 14 to 29. Officers and employees participated in competitions covering Hindi noting and drafting, translation, typing and other language skills. Winners received awards and certificates at the closing ceremony.
BHASHINI operates under the Digital India Corporation within MeitY. According to the ministry, it powers more than 800 government websites, has enabled over nine billion cumulative AI inferences and processes more than 24 million daily.
