Telangana’s Employee Health Scheme Makes a Promising Beginning
Between July 18 and July 25, a total of 437 beneficiaries received cashless treatment through 153 empanelled hospitals across 17 districts of Telangana, highlighting the swift rollout of the scheme.

Fulfilling a long-pending demand of Telangana government employees and pensioners, the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, launched the Employee Health Scheme (EHS) on July 17, 2026. The scheme provides cashless medical treatment to serving employees, pensioners and their eligible dependants through a network of empanelled hospitals across the state.
The scheme has made an encouraging start, with employees and pensioners availing cashless medical services from the very first week of its implementation. Between July 18 and July 25, a total of 437 beneficiaries received cashless treatment through 153 empanelled hospitals across 17 districts of Telangana, highlighting the swift rollout of the scheme.
Of the total beneficiaries, 184 government employees underwent treatment worth ₹40,42,786, while 253 pensioners received treatment valued at ₹73,70,035. Overall, cashless treatment worth ₹1,14,12,821 was extended during the first week itself, demonstrating the scheme’s immediate impact on employee welfare.
The empanelled hospital network became operational across the state from day one. Hyderabad leads with 47 hospitals, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri (21), Rangareddy (14), Karimnagar (13) and Hanamkonda (12). The extensive hospital network enables beneficiaries to access quality healthcare closer to their homes without the burden of arranging funds before hospitalisation.
For government employees and pensioners, the availability of cashless healthcare has been a long-standing requirement. The launch of the Employee Health Scheme marks a significant milestone in strengthening the social security framework for the state’s workforce and retired employees. By eliminating the need for upfront medical expenses at empanelled hospitals, the scheme offers timely financial relief and greater healthcare security to beneficiaries and their families.
