AI and digital learning being promoted in cooperative training institutions, Amit Shah tells Rajya Sabha
Smart classrooms, blended learning platforms, faculty development programmes and digital pedagogy are being adopted to strengthen skills and modernise cooperative education nationwide.

NEW DELHI: The Union government is promoting artificial intelligence (AI) and digital platforms across cooperative training institutions through a series of academic, training and institutional initiatives aimed at modernising cooperative education and capacity building.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah said cooperative training institutions are increasingly adopting technology-driven teaching methods and digital learning platforms.
The initiatives include the use of smart classrooms equipped with interactive digital boards, projectors and information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled teaching tools. Institutions are also implementing blended learning through e-content, online classes and Learning Management Systems (LMS), while faculty members are being trained in ICT tools and digital pedagogy.
The minister said digital learning initiatives are periodically reviewed to ensure their effective implementation and utilisation. Regional Institute of Cooperative Management (RICM), Chandigarh, was cited as one of the institutions adopting these technology-driven teaching practices.
To strengthen professional capabilities in the cooperative sector, the Government is also supporting capacity-building programmes for teachers and cooperative professionals through faculty development programmes, refresher courses, seminars, workshops, webinars and other professional development initiatives.
These programmes cover a range of subjects, including cooperative management, banking and finance, governance, digital banking, digital transformation and other emerging areas relevant to the cooperative sector, Shah added.
