Bhopal fisheries conclave to focus on investment, processing and exports
Madhya Pradesh will release fisheries investment and export guidelines at the October 23 event, bringing together investors, exporters and more than 1,000 fish farmers to strengthen market linkages.
The event is being jointly organised in Bhopal by the fisheries departments of Madhya Pradesh and the Union government.

BHOPAL: A Fisheries Investors & Exporters Conclave on October 23 will explore investment, processing, cold-chain infrastructure and export opportunities to connect inland fish production with higher-value markets.
The event is being jointly organised in Bhopal by the fisheries departments of Madhya Pradesh and the Union government, according to a Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying statement issued on October 22.
The conclave aims to encourage a shift from a predominantly production-focused approach towards an integrated fisheries value chain, with an emphasis on improving market access and returns for fishers and fish farmers.
More than 1,000 fish farmers from across Madhya Pradesh are expected to participate alongside investors, exporters, cooperatives, Fish Farmer Producer Organisations, entrepreneurs, start-ups, processors, financial institutions and researchers. Discussions will cover enterprise development, financing and collaboration across the inland fisheries sector.
Madhya Pradesh will release its Fisheries Investment and Export Guidelines, 2026, at the event. The guidelines are intended to facilitate investment in hatcheries, fish seed and feed, reservoir and cage fisheries, aquatic animal health, processing, cold chains, logistics and market development. The Centre has notified the State as a Reservoir Fisheries Cluster.
The programme will also include the release of standard operating procedures on the export potential of inland States and the virtual inauguration of integrated cage culture units.
Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh is scheduled to hand over administrative approval for the integrated development of reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the ministry, India produced 197.75 lakh tonnes of fish in 2024–25, including 151.60 lakh tonnes from inland fisheries—about 77% of total production. Seafood exports were valued at ₹73,890 crore in 2025–26.
Madhya Pradesh has nearly 4.50 lakh hectares of water area. The conclave seeks to connect this production potential, and that of other inland States, with investment, processing facilities and domestic and overseas markets.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of State SP Singh Baghel and Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Minister Narayan Singh Pawar are scheduled to attend.
