Policy covers accidental death, disability and hospitalisation; offers add-ons for loans, child education and counselling support

Mumbai: TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited has launched ‘Accident Super Guard Plus’, a personal accident insurance policy designed to provide financial protection against accidental death, disability and hospitalisation.

The launch comes amid rising accident-related risks in India. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Road Accidents in India – 2023 report, the country recorded 4.8 lakh road accidents and 1.73 lakh fatalities in 2023, marking a 4.18% increase in accidents and a 2.61% rise in deaths year-on-year. Pedestrians, cyclists and two-wheeler riders accounted for nearly 68% of fatalities.

The insurer said the new policy aims to bridge the protection gap through a modular structure that allows customers to customise coverage based on income, liabilities and lifestyle risks.

The policy provides lump sum benefits for accidental death, permanent total disability and permanent partial disability. It also reimburses medically necessary in-patient hospitalisation expenses arising from accidents, including defined pre- and post-hospitalisation costs.

Optional add-ons include Loan Shield and EMI Protection to help customers manage outstanding financial commitments in case of disability. Additional covers such as Pet Care and child-focused benefits — including education support, academy sessions, surviving child benefits and marriage expense support — are also available.

The policy includes value-added assistance services such as financial counselling, legal guidance and disability management support to help families navigate post-accident challenges.

Accident Super Guard Plus is available for individuals and families, covering self, spouse and children under a single plan. Customers can opt for policy tenure of up to five years, with salaried professionals eligible for additional premium discounts.

Pankaj Shrivastava, Head – Agency Health, TATA AIG General Insurance Co, said the product has been designed as a flexible and scalable solution aligned with evolving financial responsibilities and life-stage needs.

The company said the product seeks to create a structured financial safety net amid increasing household liabilities and rising accidental risks across the country.
