Mumbai: In a move aimed at addressing the growing shortage of cloud-native technology talent, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Linux Foundation Education, and global learning platform Udemy have announced a strategic partnership to provide a unified cloud-native training and certification ecosystem for technology professionals.

The partnership, unveiled at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon India 2026, integrates industry-recognized cloud-native training programs and certification exams onto the Udemy platform, creating a seamless pathway for developers, platform engineers, and site reliability engineers to acquire and validate production-grade skills.

The new offering includes bundled access to some of the industry’s most sought-after certifications, including:

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
  • Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)
  • Cloud Native Platform Engineer (CNPE) certification

The newly introduced CNPE certification is designed specifically for engineers responsible for large-scale orchestration and management of cloud-native platforms.

Addressing a Global Technology Skills Crisis

According to the Linux Foundation’s 2026 State of Tech Talent Report, organizations worldwide are facing acute shortages in critical technology domains, including AI engineering (47%), cybersecurity and compliance (40%), FinOps and cost optimization (36%), platform engineering (34%), and cloud computing (29%).

Industry leaders believe that the increasing complexity of modern technology infrastructure is creating a widening gap between industry demand and available talent.

“The most critical constraint in scaling cloud-native infrastructure isn’t technology—it’s having the talent to operate it effectively in production,” said Chris Aniszczyk, CTO, CNCF. He noted that the partnership with Udemy lowers barriers to entry and helps prepare the next generation of professionals for real-world deployment challenges.

Streamlining Learning and Certification

Under the collaboration, learners can now access training and certification through a single purchasing process, eliminating the friction typically associated with pursuing professional credentials across multiple platforms.

Clyde Seepersad, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Linux Foundation Education, emphasized that performance-based certification exams remain the industry’s gold standard because they require candidates to solve real-world problems in live environments. The new integrated offering, he said, will help professionals accelerate their careers while enabling organizations to close critical skills gaps more efficiently.

Supporting Industry Demand for Cloud-Native Talent

Udemy executives described the initiative as an important step toward making cloud-native skills more accessible to a broader audience.

“Developers and technology professionals need clearer, more accessible pathways to build and prove cloud-native skills required in today’s production environment,” said Ramji Sundararajan, Senior Vice President and President, Consumer, Udemy. The partnership combines Udemy’s practical, job-focused learning experience with CNCF and Linux Foundation Education’s trusted certification framework, creating a complete journey from learning to professional validation.

Growing Importance of Cloud-Native Technologies

Cloud-native technologies have become foundational to modern digital infrastructure, enabling organizations to build and operate scalable applications across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

CNCF hosts several critical open-source technologies, including Kubernetes, Prometheus, and Envoy, and supports a global ecosystem of nearly 800 member organizations ranging from leading cloud providers to innovative startups.

The integrated training and certification bundles are available immediately through the Udemy platform, providing professionals with a streamlined route to some of the most in-demand cloud-native credentials in the technology industry.
