NEW DELHI: The Department of Justice will conduct a workshop on eFiling 3.0 on November 4 to familiarise government officials with digital court procedures and encourage wider adoption of online filing across government departments and public-sector organisations.

The workshop, titled “eFiling 3.0: From Process to Practice”, is being organised under the eCourts Mission Mode Project by the Ministry of Law and Justice. It will take place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, from 2 pm on Wednesday.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) will conduct technical sessions covering the functioning of eCourts applications and services, eCourts Single Sign-On (SSO), the eCourts Services Mobile App and the features of eFiling 3.0 available to government pleaders and departments.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal is scheduled to attend the programme. Members of the Supreme Court’s eCommittee are also expected to participate.

The workshop addresses an important institutional requirement under Phase III of the eCourts Project, which envisages end-to-end digital and paperless courts, citizen-centric judicial services and universal adoption of eFiling across courts.

Government ministries and departments, their attached and subordinate offices, autonomous and regulatory bodies, and public-sector undertakings account for a substantial share of litigation. Wider use of eFiling by these organisations is expected to improve procedural efficiency and reduce dependence on physical court processes.

The workshop is intended to equip designated government officers with practical knowledge of the digital filing system and related judicial services.

The eCourts Phase III initiative seeks to strengthen technology adoption across the judicial system and improve access to digital, paperless and citizen-centric justice delivery.
