Nagpur: The Headquarters Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force, in collaboration with the Centre for Airpower and Strategic Studies (CAPSS), conducted a one-day Joint Aerospace Power Seminar in Nagpur on Monday.

The seminar, themed “Efficient Maintenance and Atmanirbharta: Enablers of Airpower,” brought together senior military leaders, aerospace experts and strategic stakeholders to deliberate on the importance of maintenance efficiency and self-reliance in strengthening India’s aerospace capabilities.

Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of strong maintenance frameworks and indigenous capability development in sustaining operational readiness and enhancing national security.

He noted that achieving Atmanirbharta in aerospace systems is critical for ensuring resilience, reducing dependence on external sources and improving mission effectiveness.

The seminar featured presentations and panel discussions on emerging maintenance practices, technological advancements, indigenisation initiatives and policy frameworks aimed at strengthening India’s airpower ecosystem.

Experts from the Indian Air Force and CAPSS exchanged views on aligning maintenance strategies with the national vision of self-reliance in defence production.

Organisers said the event served as a platform for knowledge exchange and deeper collaboration between strategic thinkers and operational stakeholders. The discussions also reinforced the commitment of the Indian Air Force’s Maintenance Command towards innovation-driven maintenance practices and indigenous aerospace capability development.

The seminar concluded with a collective resolve to further strengthen collaboration between defence think tanks and the armed forces in driving transformative changes in aerospace maintenance and operational capability.
