President Droupadi Murmu Reviews Army Training Command in Shimla, Focus on Drone Warfare and Digitisation

Shimla: President Droupadi Murmu visited the Headquarters of Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Friday, underlining the importance of technology-driven military preparedness and modern training systems for the Indian Army.
The President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was received by Kavinder Gupta and Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC.
During the visit, the President was briefed on the evolution and expanding role of ARTRAC in strengthening operational efficiency through structured training and capability development. Key initiatives highlighted included the integration of drone training, adoption of niche technologies, the introduction of ‘red teaming’ for strategic evaluation, and ongoing efforts in digitisation and automation across the force.

She described the command as a critical driver in advancing military capability aligned with the broader vision of self-reliance and a developed India.
With a network of 32 premier training establishments, ARTRAC continues to anchor professionalism within the Indian Army, offering a comprehensive perspective on modern warfighting.
The President also interacted with senior leadership on enhancing training frameworks to further strengthen national security. She commended personnel and defence civilians for their contribution and called for continued focus on operational preparedness with renewed commitment.
