Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer CV Anand on Friday assumed charge as Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana, outlining a focus on technology-driven policing, efficient administration, and strengthening law and order across the state.

He was received at the DGP’s office by senior police officials and was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour before formally taking charge.

Addressing officials, Anand said he would work in alignment with the government’s goals and aspirations, committing to sustained efforts to maintain law and order. He emphasised the increased use of modern technology to enhance policing efficiency and noted that Telangana Police have already set high standards in crime investigation.

Highlighting ongoing enforcement efforts, he said the ‘Eagle’ police team has been delivering strong results in curbing drug-related activities.

A 1991-batch IPS officer, Anand brings extensive leadership experience across key policing roles. He served as Police Commissioner of Cyberabad between 2013 and 2016 and was promoted as Additional DGP in 2017. He later took charge as Hyderabad Police Commissioner on December 24, 2021, and was elevated to the rank of DGP on August 7, 2023.

He returned as Hyderabad Police Commissioner for a second tenure on September 7, 2024, before being appointed Special Chief Secretary (Home) on September 27, 2025. He is scheduled to continue as Telangana DGP until June 2028.

Telangana Police is known for its adoption of technology-led policing models and has been recognised for advancements in crime investigation, surveillance systems, and public safety initiatives.
