BRICS Bharat Innovates exposition showcases India’s deep-tech prowess ahead of summit
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition at Bharat Mandapam is showcasing 37 Indian deep-tech ventures, connecting innovators with BRICS investors, CEOs and global partners ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, the exposition is showcasing 37 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures from the original cohort of 120 innovators that participated in the maiden Bharat Innovates programme in Nice, France, in June.
NEW DELHI: India’s deep-tech innovation ecosystem is taking centre stage at the BRICS Bharat Innovates (BBI) Exposition, being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 11-12 alongside the 18th BRICS Summit under India’s 2026 chairship.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, the exposition is showcasing 37 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures from the original cohort of 120 innovators that participated in the maiden Bharat Innovates programme in Nice, France, in June.
The exposition is aligned with India’s BRICS chairship theme — “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” — and seeks to connect Indian innovators with global investors, corporates, governments, universities and research institutions.
Platform for global partnerships
The BBI Exposition is being held alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, giving participating startups an opportunity to engage with CEOs, investors, business leaders and industry representatives from BRICS member countries.
The platform is expected to facilitate business-to-business engagements, technology partnerships, investment discussions, business linkages and access to international markets.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and heads of BRICS delegations are expected to visit the exposition. Senior Indian and international delegates, CEOs, investors and business leaders are also expected to tour the showcase during the two-day event.
The initiative advances one of the five priority areas identified under India’s BRICS Education Track — “Enhancing Research, Innovation and Start-up Ecosystems.”
Building on Bharat Innovates 2026
The New Delhi exposition follows the maiden Bharat Innovates 2026, held in Nice from June 14-16 as part of the India-France Year of Innovation.
The first edition brought together 120 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures across 13 thematic areas and 15 participating institutions, including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX. It attracted more than 2,000 participants from 29 countries and resulted in over 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships.
Indian startups secured funding commitments worth US$254.5 million following 1,350 B2B meetings.
The Ministry of Education has positioned Bharat Innovates as a global accelerator for innovations emerging from India’s higher education ecosystem, linking startups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks with international investors, corporations, incubators, universities and governments.
The initiative is intended to convert Indian research and innovation into wider commercial and international partnerships while strengthening the country’s position in the global deep-tech ecosystem.
