As part of the partnership, GARP and NAL Academy will introduce a joint educational offering that combines GARP’s globally recognised Risk and AI (RAI) Certificate with NAL Academy’s Cybersecurity Bootcamp.
Collaboration aims to address rising demand for skilled risk and compliance professionals in the BFSI sector
Mumbai: The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) has announced a strategic partnership with NAL Academy, formerly known as NSE Academy Limited, to expand education and professional training in risk management across India’s financial services ecosystem.
The collaboration aims to address the growing demand for professionals skilled in managing emerging risks such as artificial intelligence model risk, cybersecurity threats, and other non-financial risks across the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector.
As part of the partnership, GARP and NAL Academy will introduce a joint educational offering that combines GARP’s globally recognised Risk and AI (RAI) Certificate with NAL Academy’s Cybersecurity Bootcamp. The programme is designed to equip learners with practical, application-oriented skills to address AI model risk, cyber threats and governance challenges increasingly faced by financial institutions and regulators.
The initiative will cater to a broad group of participants including early-career professionals, senior risk and finance leaders, technology and cybersecurity specialists, as well as university students preparing for careers in global financial markets and risk management. The programmes will be delivered through blended, virtual and self-paced learning formats to expand accessibility across the country.
Rich Apostolik said organizations adopting new technologies are increasingly exposed to non-financial risks such as cybersecurity breaches and generative AI model risks that can affect business resilience and financial performance. He noted that the partnership with NAL Academy represents an important step toward strengthening education in AI risk governance and aligns with the Reserve Bank of India’s FREE-AI framework.
With India’s financial services sector rapidly embracing digital technologies and data-driven decision-making, the demand for professionals capable of managing emerging risks has grown significantly. The collaboration combines GARP’s global expertise in risk management standards and certifications with NAL Academy’s experience in Indian financial markets and practitioner-led education.
Abhilash Misra said the partnership will bring global risk management expertise into India’s talent ecosystem and help develop a workforce capable of addressing evolving challenges in AI, cybersecurity and non-financial risk management across the BFSI sector.
