JSW Group Strengthens HR Leadership; Appoints Sandeep Batra as President & CHRO, Shilpi Sharma as Group Head of Talent and DEI
JSW Group has strengthened its leadership bench in the human resources function with the appointment of Sandeep Batra as President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) – steel and corporate, and Shilpi Lal Sharma as Group Head of Talent, Learning and Development, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
Mumbai, December 25: JSW Group has strengthened its leadership bench in the human resources function with the appointment of Sandeep Batra as President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) – steel and corporate, and Shilpi Lal Sharma as Group Head of Talent, Learning and Development, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
As president and CHRO, Batra will lead the people, talent and culture agenda for JSW Steel and the group’s corporate functions, with a focus on organisational effectiveness, leadership capability, talent management and building a future-ready organisation. He brings more than three decades of experience across talent management, organisation design and productivity enhancement, spanning sectors such as IT, consumer, telecom, retail, infrastructure and aviation.
Prior to joining JSW Group, Batra served as chief people officer at Adani Airport Holdings Limited. His earlier roles include leadership positions at Landmark Group and Vodafone India. He has also served as a commissioned officer in the Indian Army.
Shilpi Lal Sharma has been appointed group head of talent, learning and development, and DEI, and will be responsible for driving the group’s learning architecture, leadership development, succession planning, organisational development and inclusion agenda across businesses. She will report to Batra.
Sharma brings over 20 years of experience in talent management and learning and development, including more than 15 years in senior leadership roles. She joins JSW Group from Welspun Group, where she led the talent, learning and organisation development function. Her previous stints include leadership roles at National Stock Exchange India, UltraTech Cement and Edelweiss Asset Management.

The appointments come as JSW Group accelerates its expansion across sectors including steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, paints, defence, automobiles, e-commerce, sports, real estate and venture capital, with a growing emphasis on leadership depth and organisational capability to support its long-term growth ambitions.
