Workday Completes Acquisition of Sana to Redefine the Future of Enterprise Workflows
Workday president of product and technology Gerrit Kazmaier said the expanded ecosystem will “meaningfully open what's possible” for customers.
Integration to Create an AI-Powered “Front Door for Work” by Unifying Data, Systems, and Learning Across Platforms
Mumbai, November 8: Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY), the enterprise AI platform for managing people, money, and agents, announced the completion of its acquisition of Sana, a leading AI company building next-generation enterprise knowledge and learning tools.
The acquisition positions Workday as the new front door for work, integrating Sana’s AI-powered search, agents, and learning capabilities with Workday’s deep data and context around people and finance. The combined platform will enable employees to start and complete their day seamlessly within Workday — connecting insights, applications, and actions across systems without switching contexts.
“By bringing Sana’s leading enterprise knowledge and learning to Workday, we’re creating a single, intelligent interface that connects the systems, data, and actions employees rely on — becoming the new front door for work,” said Gerrit Kazmier, President, Product and Technology, Workday. “We’re unlocking a new era of productivity, focus, and flow across organizations with a complete AI solution for the next-generation enterprise.”
Joel Hellermark, CEO of Sana, added,
“Sana exists to build the UI for AI and bring superintelligence to work. Joining Workday means we can accelerate our vision and together create a seamless way for organizations to access knowledge, automate repetitive work, and learn with agentic AI.”
The New Front Door for Work
The integration establishes a horizontal intelligence layer across enterprise systems, unifying data and workflows from various platforms into a consistent, AI-powered experience. This unified layer will deliver personalized and proactive interactions, intelligently anticipating employee needs based on their roles, teams, and ongoing projects.
Launching next year, the new AI-native work experience will empower employees with intelligent AI agents capable of retrieving context-aware information, predicting needs, and executing tasks across critical business systems.
Unlocking the Future of Enterprise AI and Learning
Sana Agents extend enterprise AI beyond traditional search and chat, allowing users to build no-code AI agents that automate workflows, analyze data, and act proactively. Meanwhile, Sana Learn offers an end-to-end AI-native learning platform, integrating learning management, analytics, and personalized tutoring.
Together with Workday Learning, these tools will deliver a comprehensive, enterprise-grade learning ecosystem that combines governance, compliance, and personalized AI learning experiences — enabling organizations to build agile, continuously learning workforces for the AI era, the company said in a release.
