Mumbai: At a time when audiences are increasingly looking beyond formula-driven Bollywood storytelling, Momacu – Motor Machis Aur Cutter is emerging as one of the more unconventional Hindi thrillers to watch out for this year.

Set against the rugged backdrop of rural North India, the upcoming dark comedy thriller revolves around three men who steal an ATM machine and hide it inside a tube-well room — a bizarre premise that quickly spirals into a tense survival drama filled with mistrust, panic and unpredictable twists.

The story unfolds over the course of a single night, giving the film a claustrophobic and constantly shifting atmosphere where tension and dark humour appear to coexist throughout the narrative.

Unlike polished mainstream thrillers, Momacu leans heavily into rawness and realism. The trailer presents a dusty, grounded world populated by flawed characters trapped in desperate situations rather than larger-than-life heroes and stylised action sequences.

The film stars Jatin Sarna, Yashpal Sharma and Apoorva Arora in key roles, with the cast drawing attention for performances that appear deeply rooted in the gritty tone of the story. Industry observers say the casting adds authenticity and emotional weight to the film’s unpredictable narrative style.

Directed by Kuldeep Kunal, the film appears to focus as much on character psychology and human behaviour as on suspense itself. Themes of greed, fear, confusion and survival instincts drive the unfolding drama, while moments of uncomfortable humour add an additional layer of unpredictability.

The title Motor Machis Aur Cutter itself reflects the film’s rustic and chaotic personality, with dialogues and language rooted in local flavour rather than conventional cinematic stylisation.

The project also gained visibility after actor Jaideep Ahlawat praised the film’s “rooted storytelling” and “madness” during the trailer launch, adding further curiosity among viewers interested in unconventional Hindi-belt narratives.

The film is scheduled to release on KableOne on June 4, 2026.
