New Delhi: NIIT University and Grant Thornton Bharat LLP have announced a strategic collaboration to launch a BBA (Applied Finance) programme, marking a decisive shift towards industry-integrated higher education in India.
The programme, co-created with Grant Thornton Bharat, aims to bridge the long-standing gap between academic learning and real-world professional readiness by embedding industry practice at the core of the curriculum.
At a time when employability and skill relevance are becoming critical benchmarks for higher education, the partnership positions itself as an outcome-driven model designed to prepare students for finance and consulting careers from day one.
Under the collaboration framework, NIIT University will lead academic delivery, including faculty instruction, infrastructure and student assessment, while Grant Thornton Bharat will drive curriculum co-development, mentorship, live projects and internship integration.
The programme architecture reflects a strong industry orientation, featuring up to 18 months of structured industry practice with stipend support and an application-led curriculum accounting for nearly 80 percent of the learning experience.
Students will also receive hands-on training in widely used industry tools such as Excel, Python, SAP, Power BI and AI, alongside defined pathways into consulting and finance roles, with opportunities for pre-placement offers through industry exposure.
Announcing the partnership, President, NIIT University Prakash Gopalan said the collaboration reflects a larger shift in education models. “The future of education lies in its ability to connect seamlessly with the world of work. This programme ensures students actively engage with industry environments and graduate with professional readiness,” he said.
Kapil Arora, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat, said the initiative aligns with the firm’s long-term talent development vision. “This co-created curriculum brings real industry expertise into the classroom and gives students a genuine head-start in finance and consulting careers,” he said.
The collaboration underscores a broader transformation in higher education, where institutions are moving from degree-centric approaches to skill-based, employment-oriented learning frameworks.
Admissions for the BBA (Applied Finance) programme are now open.
