NHA Invites Innovators for AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon 2026
The initiative seeks to develop advanced digital solutions that can integrate with the existing ecosystem, reduce manual intervention, enhance speed and accuracy, and build a scalable, future-ready adjudication framework.
2,600+ registrations so far; focus on AI-driven claims processing and scalable digital health solutions

New Delhi: The National Health Authority (NHA) has invited innovators, developers, startups and researchers to participate in the AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon 2026, aimed at accelerating digital transformation in healthcare claims processing under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
The initiative seeks to develop advanced digital solutions that can integrate with the existing ecosystem, reduce manual intervention, enhance speed and accuracy, and build a scalable, future-ready adjudication framework.
Currently, AB PM-JAY processes nearly 50,000 claims daily across more than 1,900 treatment packages. While 15–20 percent of claims are auto-adjudicated, officials said there is a growing need for a robust, package-agnostic system capable of handling diverse treatments and documentation formats.
The hackathon aims to leverage automation, artificial intelligence-based fraud detection, standardised documentation and real-time verification to fully digitise claims processing and improve transparency and efficiency.
The response has been strong, with over 2,600 participants already registered. The last date for registration is April 13, 2026, and interested participants can apply through the official portal.
To support participants, NHA will host a three-part masterclass series beginning April 13, offering insights into the claims adjudication ecosystem and innovation opportunities in digital health. The sessions are scheduled for April 13, April 15 and April 16, and will be streamed live on NHA’s official YouTube channel.
The hackathon will conclude with a two-day grand finale on May 8–9 at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, where shortlisted teams will present their solutions before a jury comprising experts from healthcare, technology and public policy.
Winners will receive cash prizes of ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh and ₹2 lakh for each problem statement, along with opportunities for collaboration with NHA.
Officials said the initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to fostering innovation-led digital health systems that improve efficiency, transparency and service delivery for beneficiaries and healthcare providers.
