HYDERABAD: Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) is set to roll out its 400th fuselage for the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter from its Hyderabad facility, marking a significant milestone in India’s aerospace manufacturing journey, the company said in an announcement.
The 400th fuselage milestone underscores the growing role of Hyderabad in Boeing’s global Apache supply chain and highlights the increasing maturity of India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem.
TBAL is a joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL). According to the company’s profile, the joint venture was established in 2016 and its Hyderabad operation has a 52,000-square-metre facility supported by more than 750 engineers and technicians.
From Hyderabad to Apache operators worldwide
TBAL’s fuselages support Apache helicopters operated by customers around the world. The company describes its production programme as “Made in India, for India, and the world”, highlighting the integration of Indian aerospace manufacturing into global defence supply chains.
The company’s Hyderabad facility is a key part of this global manufacturing network, producing complex aerostructures for Boeing’s AH-64 Apache programme.
The latest milestone follows the delivery of the 300th Apache fuselage from Hyderabad, announced by Boeing in February 2025. Boeing said at the time that TBAL was the global sole-source supplier for Apache fuselages and that more than 90% of the parts used in the Apache aerostructure assemblies were manufactured in India through more than 100 MSME suppliers.
The 400th fuselage therefore represents the addition of another 100 Apache fuselages to the Hyderabad production programme since the 300th milestone.
Supporting India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem
The Apache programme has also created a manufacturing ecosystem involving Indian suppliers, engineers and technicians, strengthening the country’s participation in a globally deployed defence platform.
TBAL’s profile notes that fuselages produced in India underpin Apaches flown worldwide, while India’s own fleet comprises 22 aircraft with the Indian Air Force and six with the Indian Army.
Boeing has previously said that the Hyderabad facility uses robotics, automation and advanced aerospace manufacturing processes. The company has also described TBAL as its global sole-source supplier for Apache fuselages.
The 400th fuselage milestone comes as India seeks to deepen its role in global aerospace and defence supply chains, moving beyond defence procurement towards manufacturing and export-oriented production.
For Hyderabad and Telangana, the achievement further reinforces the city’s position as an important aerospace and defence manufacturing hub.
