New Delhi, October 27: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a corrigendum to its earlier recommendations on “Formulating a Digital Radio Broadcast Policy for Private Broadcasters”, originally submitted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on October 3, 2025.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had sought TRAI’s recommendations in April 2024 under Section 11(1)(a)(i) of the TRAI Act, 1997, to help frame a comprehensive digital radio policy for private broadcasters. The recommendations aimed to guide India’s transition from analog to digital radio broadcasting, fostering innovation, efficient spectrum use, and improved listener experience.

The corrigendum, issued today, updates specific portions of the October recommendations and is available on TRAI’s official website (www.trai.gov.in).

Officials said the changes are intended to refine certain technical and procedural aspects to align with stakeholder feedback and policy requirements. The Ministry is expected to review the revised inputs as part of the policy formulation process for private digital radio services across India.

For further details or clarification, stakeholders may contact Dr Deepali Sharma, Advisor (Broadcasting & Cable Services), TRAI, at +91-11-20907774.

The move reflects TRAI’s continued efforts to support India’s digital broadcasting evolution and to create a balanced framework that encourages private participation while ensuring quality, accessibility, and innovation in radio services.
