MSD opens 2.5 lakh sq ft technology centre in Hyderabad
MSD has inaugurated a 2.5 lakh sq ft Technology Centre in Hyderabad, expanding the city’s role in global life sciences, AI, digital technology and healthcare innovation.

HYDERABAD: Global biopharmaceutical company MSD has inaugurated a 2.5 lakh sq ft Technology Centre at Hitec City, strengthening Hyderabad’s position as a hub for life sciences, technology and innovation.
The centre was inaugurated on Thursday by Telangana IT, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce and Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu in the presence of senior MSD executives and Telangana government officials.
The new facility will bring together capabilities in digital, data, analytics, artificial intelligence, technology and engineering. It will form part of MSD’s global technology network and support its Human Health business and worldwide operations.
Hyderabad emerges as life sciences-tech hub
The Telangana life sciences ecosystem has more than 2,000 companies and is increasingly expanding beyond manufacturing into advanced research, innovation and global technology capabilities, according to the release.
Sridhar Babu said Telangana had developed an end-to-end life sciences ecosystem covering APIs, bulk drugs, generics, CDMO, vaccines, research and discovery. He highlighted the state’s efforts to move from manufacturing scale towards advanced R&D, discovery and global capability creation.
The minister said Telangana’s Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–30 seeks to bring together discovery, manufacturing, clinical research and technology. He also said the state was targeting 100 GCCs, building on the 75-plus GCCs established last year, with an expected creation of four lakh direct and indirect high-value opportunities.
MSD to expand global technology capabilities
The Hyderabad centre will enable teams to work on enterprise technology solutions, collaborate with colleagues globally and develop digital capabilities supporting MSD’s healthcare operations.
Abhishek Narayan Singh, Senior Vice President, Digital Human Health, MSD, said Hyderabad’s technology ecosystem, digital expertise and talent pool made it an ideal location for the company’s technology operations.
The state government is also developing infrastructure around the life sciences-technology ecosystem, including Bharat Future City’s proposed 2,100-acre life sciences zone and a specialised 100-acre advanced biologics hub. The 1Bio model is intended to provide plug-and-play advanced bio-foundry infrastructure.
The release said institutions including CSIR-IICT, CCMB and NIPER, along with programmes such as the Telangana School of Life Sciences and industry-integrated PhD programmes, are contributing to the state’s talent pipeline.
MSD’s new centre is expected to create opportunities for high-value technology work in Hyderabad and further strengthen the city’s role in global healthcare innovation.
