Department of Posts Suspends Booking of Mail to USA Amid Transport Constraints
Officials said the Department is closely monitoring the situation and working to restore services at the earliest.
New Delhi, August 31: The Department of Posts on Sunday announced a complete suspension of booking of all categories of mail bound for the United States of America, citing the ongoing inability of carriers to transport consignments and the absence of defined regulatory mechanisms.
The suspension, which covers letters, documents, and gift items valued up to USD 100, follows an earlier public notice issued on August 22.
Officials said the Department is closely monitoring the situation and working to restore services at the earliest. Customers who have already booked undelivered items will be eligible for a refund of postage.
The Department expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to customers.
