GUWAHATI: The eight-day Shilp Samagam Mela 2026 is scheduled to begin in Guwahati on October 21, providing artisans a platform for direct sales and promoting access to wider markets through the BHARAT-TULIP programme.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in a statement issued on October 20, said the fair would run until October 28 at Farm Gate, Khanapara, from 11 am to 9 pm daily. It will feature 75 artisans, including 31 women, displaying around 40 varieties of handloom and handicraft products.
Artisans from across India, including the Northeast, will participate. The ministry said the event would help them connect with buyers and develop new business opportunities.
A focus will be BHARAT-TULIP, which supports product marketing through retail outlets and e-commerce channels to help participating artisans reach more customers.
The fair supports Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Safai Mitras and Denotified Tribes. Visitors will also receive information about welfare and financial assistance schemes offered by the ministry and its three national finance and development corporations.
