‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar’ Abhiyaan Sees Massive Nationwide Turnout, 76 Lakh Beneficiaries in Four Days

New Delhi, September 22: The “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar” Abhiyaan, launched on September 17, has registered overwhelming participation across India, with more than 76 lakh citizens availing health services in just four days. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, over 2.83 lakh health camps have been conducted nationwide as part of the campaign, aimed at improving women’s and family health.
Key Health Outcomes
The Abhiyaan has rolled out extensive screening and preventive care. More than 37 lakh people were screened for hypertension and 35 lakh for diabetes. Cancer detection drives included over 9 lakh women screened for breast cancer and 4.7 lakh for cervical cancer, while oral cancer screenings covered more than 16 lakh individuals.
Maternal and child health formed a major focus, with 18 lakh antenatal check-ups and vaccination of over 51 lakh children. More than 15 lakh citizens were screened for anaemia, and lakhs of families attended nutrition counselling sessions. TB screening covered 22 lakh citizens, alongside 2.3 lakh tested for sickle cell disease. Blood donation drives added 1.6 lakh donors, while 4.7 lakh new Ayushman Bharat/PM-JAY health cards were issued.
Institutions at the Forefront
The campaign is being implemented through a wide network of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, state health facilities, AIIMS, institutes of national importance, tertiary hospitals, and medical colleges. Private institutions have also joined, conducting thousands of specialty health camps. Together, central institutes, medical colleges, and private partners have organized 3,410 camps, benefitting more than 5.8 lakh people.
Regional Impact
The Abhiyaan is being celebrated as a Jan Andolan across states and union territories. In Delhi, mega camps at Safdarjung Hospital and CGHS RK Puram delivered screenings for TB, NCDs, and maternal health. In Gujarat, camps in Dahod, Kutch, and Navsari provided cancer and NCD care to over 42,000 women.
From Srinagar to RS Pura in Jammu & Kashmir, the initiative drew large community participation under Sewa Pakhwada. In the Northeast, camps reached tribal communities in remote districts such as Papum Pare and Imphal. Goa and Maharashtra witnessed PHCs and Panchayats mobilizing blood donation drives and rallies, while Bihar and Uttar Pradesh recorded heavy turnout for maternal and NCD care at district hospitals. In Ladakh’s Lingshed village, camps extended consultations, cataract screening, and menstrual hygiene awareness sessions.

The ministry lauded healthcare workers, state governments, and community organizations for their role in making the Abhiyaan a success. With the campaign continuing till October 2, the government said the mission remains clear: ensuring “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar”—healthy women, strong families, and a resilient nation.
