Kumarakom, Kerala | September 19: The two-day National Workshop on “IT Solutions in the Ayush Sector” opened in Kumarakom on Thursday with a call for blending India’s traditional medical wisdom with cutting-edge digital technologies. The event, organized under the National Ayush Mission, brings together 91 representatives from 23 states and Union Territories, along with 155 participants including policymakers, technologists, and senior officials.
Kerala’s Health Minister Veena George, inaugurating the workshop, said the natural setting of Kumarakom reflects the harmony Ayush promotes. She urged states to work towards a centralized, interoperable digital framework to strengthen the National Health Mission, stressing that innovation must be rooted in citizen-centric governance. “We must embrace innovation with tradition—building a unified digital future for Ayush to ensure accessible, affordable, and citizen-centric healthcare,” she said.
Delivering the keynote, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, underlined that digital adoption is no longer optional but essential for enhancing accessibility and quality. He highlighted initiatives such as the Ayush Grid and new digital portals, aimed at avoiding duplication, enabling real-time monitoring, and aligning with the National Digital Health Mission.
Rajan N. Khobragade, Additional Chief Secretary (Health & Ayush), Kerala, praised Kerala’s digital health achievements and called for standardized, user-friendly platforms that other states could adopt. Speakers including Dr Raghu (Advisor, Ministry of Ayush) and Ranjan Kumar (Principal Secretary, Ayush, Uttar Pradesh) stressed collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity in deploying IT solutions.
The workshop features live demonstrations of hospital management software and discussions on program management, patient care, data systems, and financial tracking. Participants will also visit Ayush facilities in Kerala’s Kottayam, Alappuzha, and Thrissur districts to study innovative projects such as the Sports Ayurveda Project, Arogyanouka, and Palliative Care initiatives.
Officials said the workshop marks a pivotal step in modernizing Ayush services while preserving traditional knowledge, positioning the sector as an integral part of India’s digital health ecosystem.
