Vi partners PwC India to develop enterprise AI solutions through Vi Intelligence Lab
Vodafone Idea’s new AI initiative will focus on agentic, assistive and responsible AI, with a dedicated PwC India team working on enterprise transformation, solution development and technology innovation.
The lab will serve as the innovation hub of Vi Intelligence, the telecom operator’s strategic initiative to accelerate AI adoption within its own operations and help businesses use emerging AI technologies to transform their processes.

MUMBAI: Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with PwC India to establish the Vi Intelligence Lab, an initiative aimed at developing and scaling artificial intelligence solutions for enterprise operations and customers across industries.
The lab will serve as the innovation hub of Vi Intelligence, the telecom operator’s strategic initiative to accelerate AI adoption within its own operations and help businesses use emerging AI technologies to transform their processes.
Under the partnership, PwC India will set up a dedicated Centre of Excellence team co-located with Vi in Mumbai. The collaboration will combine Vi’s digital infrastructure with PwC India’s expertise in business transformation to develop AI applications addressing real-world enterprise challenges.
The initiative is intended to connect global AI companies, startups, research institutions and enterprises, creating an ecosystem for developing and deploying practical AI solutions.
Three pillars for enterprise AI
Vi Intelligence Lab will focus on three strategic areas: Agentic AI, Assistive AI, and Sovereign and Responsible AI. These pillars will guide the development of solutions across consumer services, enterprise applications and internal operations.
The focus on agentic AI reflects the shift towards systems capable of carrying out increasingly autonomous business processes, moving beyond conventional automation. Assistive AI will support users and employees in their tasks, while the sovereign and responsible AI pillar will address governance, data security and ethical deployment.
Vi said every use case developed through the lab would be assessed under GRACIE, its Responsible AI framework, to ensure the ethical and secure use of data, intellectual property and AI systems.
The lab will operate through several programmes, including incubation projects to address complex business challenges, development of proprietary AI capabilities, and open hackathons to encourage participation from global AI startups.
It will also establish a transformation AI factory to move concepts from experimentation to pilot deployment and conduct AI skilling programmes to strengthen workforce capabilities.
Building enterprise AI capabilities
Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer of Vi, said the initiative would bring together global AI expertise, strategic partnerships and telecom infrastructure to support practical and scalable AI adoption. He identified customer engagement, service experience and cross-functional processes as areas where AI could drive transformation.
Vinish Bawa, Partner and Leader, Technology, Media and Telecommunications at PwC India, said the partnership would help organisations translate AI potential into practical capabilities while supporting responsible adoption as enterprises move towards more intelligent and autonomous processes.
Vi Intelligence is positioned as a broader enterprise AI initiative, with the lab expected to support solution development, experimentation and deployment across industries.
The initiative comes as businesses increasingly explore AI applications beyond individual productivity tools, focusing on integration into workflows, customer services and operational decision-making
