MUMBAI: Billion and realme TechLife have become the first Smart TV brands to partner with CloudTV for its latest CTS-certified operating system, thunderOS, bringing AI-powered voice assistance, OTT applications and personalised content discovery to their television offerings.
The partnership went live on Wednesday, with Smart TVs powered by thunderOS available for purchase through Flipkart. CloudTV said the rollout comes ahead of the festive season, traditionally an important period for consumer electronics and Smart TV purchases in India.
CloudTV, developed by Mumbai-based CloudWalker Streaming Technologies, describes thunderOS as a homegrown Smart TV operating system designed for Indian consumers. The company currently powers more than eight million devices and reaches over 16 million viewers across the country.
AI-powered television experience
thunderOS brings together more than 350 live channels, over 130 OTT and other applications, 45-plus gaming apps and web browsing. It also supports DVB-S satellite connectivity and more than 800 free-to-air channels covering news, entertainment, sports and other content.
At the centre of the platform is Bolt, CloudTV’s AI voice assistant, which allows users to search and navigate the television using voice commands and also provides general trivia.
The platform features SmartAudio, which uses AI to adapt sound according to the content genre, along with personalised recommendations based on recent viewing. A Continue Watching feature lets users resume programmes directly from the home screen.
Unified Content Search enables users to search across multiple OTT applications from one interface, while Kids Mode provides curated child-friendly content. PC Mode allows the television to function as a larger display for browsing, editing and other tasks.
CloudTV expands homegrown ecosystem
Abhijeet Rajpurohit, Co-founder and COO, CloudTV, said the company had built thunderOS to address the requirements of Indian consumers and manufacturers, with a focus on content discovery, voice-first navigation and flexibility across entertainment and information access.
CloudTV said it has a pan-India reach of more than 16 million viewers, with over 250 Smart TV brands, 150-plus app partners and more than 25 manufacturing partners.
