Hyderabad: Chief minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Bachupally Flyover and laid the foundation stone for two major road infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding western corridor.

The projects are being implemented by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) as part of efforts to strengthen urban mobility, improve road safety and support the region’s growing residential, commercial and IT hubs.

The Bachupally Flyover, constructed at Bachupally X Roads, has been completed at a cost of ₹65.53 crore. The 1.3-km-long flyover is designed to facilitate seamless traffic movement between Miyapur X Road and Gandimaisamma, reducing congestion and travel time on one of the city’s busiest growth corridors. The project comprises a four-lane carriageway with a width of 17.5 metres, supported by 19 piers and abutments, along with 1.3 km of two-lane slip roads.

The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for a ₹229-crore project to construct major bridges across the Musi river near ORR Exit No.18A. The project includes service roads on both sides of the Outer Ring Road and a new service road connecting the interchange to Narsingi Ring Road.

According to HMDA, the project is intended to address recurring flooding of existing low-level causeways, ease congestion near Nandi Circle and resolve traffic management issues around the ORR interchange. The works will include bridge construction, raising of approach roads, drainage improvements, protection works and traffic safety measures. Once completed, the project is expected to provide uninterrupted all-weather connectivity and improve access to Narsingi, Kokapet and the Financial District.

Another key project launched on the occasion is the widening of the left main carriageway of the ORR between Nanakramguda and Gachibowli. The ₹26.50-crore project will cover a stretch of 1.75 km and aims to address increasing traffic volumes and bottlenecks in the Gachibowli area.

The widening work will include the addition of an extra lane, expansion of existing vehicular underpasses and culverts, and junction improvements. HMDA said the project would improve traffic flow, reduce travel time and provide better connectivity to Hyderabad’s Financial District and IT corridor. The work has already been awarded to Sudhakara Infratech.

Together, the newly inaugurated and proposed projects represent an investment of more than ₹320 crore and are expected to play a significant role in supporting Hyderabad’s growing transportation needs and future urban expansion.
