New Delhi: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on Friday launched the “JEEVAN” mobile application and “SHATAYU” geriatric caregiver dashboard aimed at strengthening support systems and improving quality of life for senior citizens across India.
Union Ministr for Social Justice & Empowermen Virendra Kumar launched the two digital platforms during a national workshop on “Creating a Well-Functioning Care Economy.”
The JEEVAN app — Joint Elderly Empowerment & Virtual Assistance Network — has been developed as a dedicated digital platform to enhance the safety, welfare, healthcare access and social inclusion of elderly citizens.
According to the ministry, the application offers information related to government welfare schemes, emergency assistance services and senior citizen homes supported by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The platform has been designed with simplified navigation, accessibility features and a user-friendly interface keeping in mind the needs of elderly users.
The Ministry said the app is intended to serve as a comprehensive support platform enabling senior citizens to access essential services and information more easily.
Alongside JEEVAN, the ministry also launched SHATAYU — Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training For Your Utility — a digital dashboard aimed at strengthening geriatric caregiving services across the country.
The SHATAYU platform provides information regarding availability of trained geriatric caregivers across districts and states, helping senior citizens and families access caregiving support more efficiently.
Officials said the dashboard has also been designed with simplified functionalities and easy accessibility to ensure effective service delivery and wider adoption.
The ministry stated that the launch of JEEVAN and SHATAYU marks an important step towards building a technology-enabled elder care ecosystem focused on safety, dignity, healthcare access and empowerment of senior citizens in India.
