CCRAS Launches Second Edition of PRAYATNA Scientific Writing Workshop to Empower Ayurveda Scholars

New Delhi, July 23: The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, has announced the second edition of its flagship initiative — CCRAS-PRAYATNA, a national scientific writing workshop aimed at enhancing the publication skills of Ayurveda postgraduate, PhD, and post-doctoral scholars.
Launched in August 2024, the PRAYATNA (Promoting Research And Yielding Advanced Texts through Nurturing Ayurveda) initiative seeks to bridge the gap between traditional Ayurvedic academic work and global scientific publishing standards. The second edition for 2025–26 will be hosted at selected Ayurveda institutions across the country, following a national Expression of Interest (EOI) process. Interested institutions can submit their EOIs by August 15, 2025, to ccrasprayatna@gmail.com.
Building a Generation of Globally Visible Ayurveda Researchers
Speaking on the initiative, Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, said:
“The CCRAS-PRAYATNA initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to nurturing a robust research culture in Ayurveda by empowering young scholars with the skills essential for high-quality scientific publication. We are confident that the upcoming workshops will further amplify the visibility and impact of Ayurveda research worldwide.”
The workshops will feature hands-on training, structured mentorship, and expert-led sessions on manuscript development, research methodology, and publication ethics. The program includes sensitization webinars, article reviews, and a residential manuscript development workshop, with a focus on converting thesis work into publishable articles in reputed journals.
A Proven Model with Measurable Outcomes
The first edition of PRAYATNA, conducted at Shri BMK KLE Ayurveda College, Belagavi, resulted in the successful development and submission of several manuscripts to respected journals. The success of the pilot has encouraged CCRAS to scale the initiative and bring more institutions on board.
Part of a Larger Vision to Advance Evidence-Based Ayurveda
PRAYATNA complements other academic and research capacity-building programs of CCRAS, including:
SPARK (for undergraduate students)
PG-STAR (for postgraduate scholars)
AGNI (for Ayurvedic physicians)
SMART (for Ayurveda teachers)
ARMS (a specialized training program in research methodology and statistics)
These efforts align with CCRAS’s mission to promote evidence-based Ayurveda and boost its global scientific footprint. CCRAS also publishes high-quality journals such as the Journal of Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JRAS), Journal of Drug Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JDRAS), and Journal of Indian Medical Heritage (JIMH).
Through initiatives like PRAYATNA, CCRAS continues to invest in the next generation of Ayurveda researchers, equipping them to contribute meaningfully to global scientific discourse.
