New Delhi: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has made a robust start to the financial year 2026-27, with provisional figures indicating double-digit growth in operating revenue during the first quarter, as the state-owned telecom operator continues to strengthen its transformation journey under a renewed focus on operational excellence and customer experience.
The performance was reviewed during the Strategic Review and Planning Meet (SRPM) held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, chaired by Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Communications Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Secretary (Telecommunications) Amit Agarwal, senior officials from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), BSNL Chairman and Managing Director A. Robert J. Ravi, members of the BSNL Board, and Chief General Managers (CGMs) representing telecom circles across the country.
Enterprise Business Drives Growth
According to provisional financial data presented during the review, BSNL’s three core business segments – Enterprise Business, Consumer Mobility, and Consumer Fixed Access (CFA) – continued to underpin the company’s revenue growth.
The Enterprise Business vertical emerged as the strongest performer, registering an impressive 19% year-on-year growth in the first quarter. The Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Assam telecom circles recorded outstanding performance, reflecting the success of focused execution strategies.
Mobility Business Posts Healthy Gains
BSNL’s Consumer Mobility business also reported encouraging momentum, with provisional revenues growing by 8% year-on-year. Telecom circles including Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand significantly outperformed their quarterly targets, contributing to the segment’s steady expansion.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Fixed Access (CFA) business maintained stable revenues, while its subscriber base recorded marginal positive growth. Strong performances were observed in Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh (West), and Karnataka circles.
Focus on Service Quality
While reviewing the financial performance, the Communications Minister stressed that sustainable growth must be accompanied by continuous improvements in Quality of Service (QoS).
The meeting extensively reviewed key operational indicators such as network availability, customer experience, and service reliability, underscoring that operational excellence will remain central to BSNL’s long-term strategy.
Six Telecom Circles Recognised
A major highlight of the review meeting was the recognition of six telecom circles that delivered exceptional results during the first quarter. The heads of Punjab, Haryana, Kerala, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Odisha circles were felicitated for their outstanding performance.
Each Chief General Manager shared successful initiatives and best practices adopted in their respective circles, enabling the organisation to replicate these models across the country.
Speaking during the review, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia emphasized that knowledge-sharing among telecom circles would help build a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaborative learning across BSNL.
Transformation Momentum Continues
The government believes the strong first-quarter performance has laid a solid foundation for the remainder of FY 2026-27. Going forward, BSNL aims to sustain revenue growth while enhancing operational efficiency and improving customer satisfaction.
With continued investments in network expansion, service quality, and digital transformation, BSNL is positioning itself to strengthen its role as India’s trusted public sector telecom service provider in an increasingly competitive telecommunications market.
