Apollo Hospitals Crosses 11,000 Genomic Consultations, Pioneering Precision Medicine for India
This milestone marks a decisive step toward integrating genomics into mainstream clinical care, empowering patients with preventive insights, early diagnoses, and personalized treatment pathways.
Mumbai, September 23: Apollo Hospitals Group on Tuesday announced a landmark achievement in its genomics journey, having completed over 11,000 genomic consultations across its Apollo Genomics Institutes in twelve Indian cities. This milestone marks a decisive step toward integrating genomics into mainstream clinical care, empowering patients with preventive insights, early diagnoses, and personalized treatment pathways.
India’s diverse genetic fabric, with more than 4,000 ethnic groups and a strong prevalence of endogamy, presents unique challenges and opportunities in decoding disease patterns. By investing in genomic diagnostics and counseling at scale, Apollo Hospitals has been able to bridge critical gaps in preventive and personalized medicine. Its Genomics Institutes, staffed with more than 30 clinical geneticists and counsellors, provide expertise in reproductive genomics, oncology, and rare genetic disorders while also democratizing access to genetic insights for families nationwide.
Speaking on the achievement, Dr Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals, said the milestone underscores the transformative impact of genomics in clinical practice. “Reaching over 11,000 genomic consultations reflects our commitment to making healthcare personalized and preventive,” she noted, adding that Apollo is dedicated to expanding genomic testing access and building awareness to ensure better outcomes for all.
Actor Soha Ali Khan, who joined the celebrations, emphasized the human dimension of genomics, saying, “Health is more than the absence of disease; it is the presence of knowledge, awareness, and resilience. Genomics gives us that knowledge, helping us detect risks early, personalize care, and turn uncertainty into healthier choices.”
Dr Anupam Sibal, Group Medical Director and Senior Consultant at Apollo Hospitals, highlighted that genetics plays a crucial role in understanding diseases and conditions, and the milestone reflects Apollo’s commitment to comprehensive genetic testing, counseling, and treatment. He noted that genomics is making an impact across preventive genomics, reproductive genomics, onco-genetics, and specialty areas, supported by a skilled team of geneticists, clinicians, and researchers.
Adding further perspective, Apollo executives and geneticists emphasized that India’s demographic changes, including decreasing infant mortality rates and growing health awareness, are bringing genetic disorders into sharper focus. They stressed that genomic testing not only supports diagnosis and treatment but also enables preventive measures against non-communicable diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular conditions.
With this achievement, Apollo Hospitals reaffirmed its mission to democratize genomics, integrating cutting-edge research, clinical expertise, and patient-centric services to empower families across India. By turning scientific breakthroughs into actionable health insights, the Group is reshaping the future of precision medicine and driving a healthier, more informed society.
