New Delhi, December 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated India’s space scientists and engineers on the successful launch of the LVM3-M6 mission, which placed the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil and the US spacecraft BlueBird Block-2 into their intended orbit.

The launch was carried out by Indian Space Research Organisation using the LVM3 heavy-lift launch vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. With this mission, the LVM3 rocket once again demonstrated its reliable heavy-lift capability, marking a significant milestone in India’s space programme and reinforcing the country’s growing stature in the global commercial launch market.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said the success of the LVM3-M6 mission reflects India’s steady progress towards self-reliance in advanced space technologies.

“The successful LVM3-M6 launch, placing the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil, the spacecraft of USA, BlueBird Block-2, into its intended orbit, marks a proud milestone in India’s space journey. It strengthens India’s heavy-lift launch capability and reinforces our growing role in the global commercial launch market. This is also reflective of our efforts towards an Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” Modi said.

He added that the mission lays a stronger foundation for India’s future space ambitions.

“With LVM3 demonstrating reliable heavy-lift performance, we are strengthening the foundations for future missions such as Gaganyaan, expanding commercial launch services and deepening global partnerships,” the Prime Minister said, congratulating the scientists and engineers behind the mission.

The LVM3-M6 mission is seen as a major step forward for India’s human spaceflight programme, Gaganyaan, as well as for expanding ISRO’s role as a trusted launch partner for international customers. The successful deployment of the BlueBird Block-2 satellite further underscores India’s ability to undertake complex commercial launches for global clients.

The Prime Minister concluded by lauding the dedication of India’s space workforce, noting that the achievement highlights the country’s growing technological capabilities and its ambition to emerge as a leading spacefaring nation.

“India continues to soar higher in the world of space,” Modi said.

The mission adds to a series of recent successes for India’s space sector, reinforcing confidence in indigenous launch systems and supporting the broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in strategic and high-technology domains.
