The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s subscription report, released on October 27, showed that broadband subscriptions excluding machine-to-machine cellular connections stood at 101.39 crore. These figures count subscriptions rather than unique individuals.

Fixed wired broadband subscriptions reached 4.89 crore, while fixed wireless broadband recorded faster monthly growth of 1.84%.

Reliance Jio led the overall broadband market with 54.12 crore subscriptions, followed by Bharti Airtel with 38.89 crore and Vodafone Idea with 13.10 crore.

The connectivity gap remained substantial: urban teledensity stood at 155.85 connections per 100 people, against 61.30 in rural areas.

Meanwhile, rural areas accounted for 51.89% of 5G fixed wireless access subscriptions. The segment reached 1.36 crore subscriptions nationally.
