BRICS Women’s Working Group Preparatory Meet Sets Four-Point Agenda on Leadership, Inclusion, Entrepreneurship, Climate Action
Discussions focus on leadership, inclusion, entrepreneurship, and climate action under India’s BRICS Presidency
The outcomes of the preparatory meeting will feed into the BRICS Women’s Working Group Meeting scheduled for July 6–7, 2026, followed by the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting on July 8–9, 2026, to be held in Kochi, Kerala.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development convened the first preparatory meeting of the BRICS Women’s Working Group on April 30, 2026, in virtual mode under India’s BRICS Presidency.
The meeting brought together representatives from BRICS member nations along with officials from various ministries and departments of the Government of India. Key knowledge partners, including UN Women and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, also participated in the deliberations.
Caralyn Khongwar Deshmukh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, opened the session, setting the agenda for discussions aligned with India’s BRICS chairship theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.”
Deliberations focused on four priority areas reflecting shared global concerns: enhancing women’s participation in governance and leadership; promoting financial and digital inclusion; strengthening women’s entrepreneurship and skill development; and advancing women’s role in climate action, food security, and nutrition.
The meeting reaffirmed India’s commitment to women-led development, positioning women as central to economic growth, governance, and broader social transformation.
Participating countries welcomed India’s leadership and endorsed the identified priorities, emphasizing cooperation, knowledge exchange, and collective progress across BRICS nations.
