Yoga Sangam Portal Powers IDY 2026 Movement as Registrations Cross 1.7 Lakh Mark
Ministry of Ayush's digital platform enables nationwide participation ahead of International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21
Prataprao Jadhav relaunched the Yoga Sangam Portal during the 25-day countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga at Khajuraho, aimed at coordinating nationwide participation in Yoga Sangam events on June 21, 2026.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush’s Yoga Sangam Portal has emerged as the digital backbone of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, with more than 1.7 lakh organisers already registering their events ahead of the nationwide celebrations scheduled for June 21.
Designed to connect institutions, organisations and communities through a common yoga practice, the portal is playing a central role in coordinating one of the world’s largest synchronised wellness movements.
The Yoga Sangam Portal was relaunched by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, during the 25-day countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026 at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh.
The platform serves as the operational backbone of Yoga Sangam, one of the flagship initiatives of IDY 2026, enabling online registrations and facilitating participation from schools, colleges, resident welfare associations, government institutions, private organisations and civil society groups across the country.
Reflecting growing public enthusiasm for yoga, more than 1.7 lakh organisers have already signed up on the portal, indicating strong nationwide engagement and setting the stage for what could become one of the largest people-led wellness campaigns ever undertaken.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Prataprao Jadhav said Yoga Sangam represents a celebration of unity through wellness.
“By enabling people across thousands of locations to practise the Common Yoga Protocol simultaneously, we are fostering national integration, encouraging healthier lifestyles, and reaffirming India’s role as the global home of yoga. Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of yoga reach every section of society,” he said.
Unlike conventional government programmes that revolve around a single venue, Yoga Sangam operates as a distributed national event. Participating organisations independently conduct yoga sessions at their respective locations while following the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), creating a synchronised nationwide yoga demonstration that transcends regional, linguistic and social barriers.
The initiative builds upon the remarkable success of its debut during International Day of Yoga 2025. Last year, more than 10 lakh locations were synchronised through Yoga Sangam, while over 13.04 lakh events were registered nationwide, making it one of the largest coordinated wellness mobilisations in the country’s history.
Building on this momentum, the Ministry of Ayush has significantly enhanced the platform for IDY 2026. The upgraded portal allows organisations to register events, coordinate participation, upload photographs and reports, and contribute to a unified national celebration through a single digital interface.
Partner organisations will oversee local mobilisation, event management, implementation of the Common Yoga Protocol and post-event reporting. Participating institutions will also receive certificates from the Ministry of Ayush in recognition of their contribution to the nationwide initiative.
Officials said the portal represents a significant shift in the execution of public wellness campaigns. Instead of relying solely on centrally organised events, Yoga Sangam promotes a participatory and decentralised model in which communities take ownership of celebrations while remaining connected through a common national framework.
The initiative aligns with the Ministry’s broader objective of expanding yoga’s reach to grassroots communities and encouraging its adoption as a practical wellness tool.
At a time when lifestyle-related diseases and stress-related health concerns are attracting increasing global attention, Yoga Sangam demonstrates how digital technology can be leveraged to transform a national observance into a mass movement for health and well-being.
As preparations for International Day of Yoga 2026 gather pace, the success of the Yoga Sangam Portal is expected to be measured not only by the number of registrations but also by its ability to inspire collective participation and bring yoga closer to communities across India.
