New Delhi, October 4: The Union Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, has launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, billed as India’s largest-ever innovation movement for school students.
The initiative, open to students of classes 6–12, aims to nurture creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship through hands-on prototyping around four key themes: Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance), Swadeshi (indigenous innovation), Vocal for Local (promotion of local crafts and products), and Samriddhi (sustainable prosperity).
As part of the nationwide programme, students will form teams, develop solutions to real-life challenges, and submit entries through photos and videos. A national expert panel will evaluate submissions, with top teams receiving prizes, mentorship, and corporate adoption support.
The Buildathon is designed as an inclusive exercise with a strong focus on Aspirational Districts, tribal, and remote regions, aligning with the experiential learning approach of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The event’s timeline includes registrations until October 6, preparatory activities from October 6–12, a nationwide live buildathon on October 13, and evaluations through November, with winners to be announced in December 2025.
Officials said the Buildathon is a clarion call for young innovators to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, transforming India into a developed nation.
