Nirmal District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav visits rain-affected areas to assess the situation and ensure immediate response on Wednesday
Nirmal (Telangana), August 27: Incessant heavy rains have disrupted normal life in several parts of Nirmal district, prompting the administration to step up relief and monitoring measures. District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav on Wednesday visited rain-affected areas to assess the situation and ensure immediate response.
The Collector reviewed waterlogging points, low-lying residential colonies, and vulnerable stretches along streams and tanks. Officials were directed to keep rescue teams on standby, ensure functioning of relief camps where needed, and take precautionary measures to prevent breaches of irrigation tanks.
Speaking to reporters, Abhilasha Abhinav urged citizens to remain cautious, avoid venturing into overflowing streams, and promptly report emergencies to control rooms. She also instructed revenue, municipal, and irrigation officials to work in coordination to mitigate risks and provide timely assistance to affected families.
According to the district administration, heavy inflows into local reservoirs are being closely monitored, with alerts issued to villages downstream. Power supply interruptions and damage to internal roads have been reported in some mandals, though no major casualties were confirmed at the time of reporting.
Officials said the administration will continue to monitor weather forecasts and remain on high alert as rains are expected to persist over the next 48 hours. Relief and rehabilitation measures will be scaled up if the situation worsens.
